Phoenix Tea was started in 2010 as an online tea merchant, bringing fine teas, tea wares, and other tea-related products to tea aficionados. In December of 2011 we opened our shop in Olde Burien, where we serve the educational and tea-drinking needs of local and visiting customers, as well as continuing to provide fine and unusual teas to customers all over the United States and beyond. We pride ourselves in the reliable high quality of our teas, and we are excited about sourcing teas that very few tea companies have available.
The people behind Phoenix Tea:
Virginia Wright is known more commonly as “Cinnabar” in the tea community, and she is also sometimes identified as “Gongfu Girl,” which is the name of the tea blog she has written since 2006. Along with Jason Walker of Walker Tea Review, she serves as co-director of the Association of Tea Bloggers, and also writes as the Seattle Tea Examiner. She can be found on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and welcomes contact by email. She is passionately committed to studying particular tea cultures and traditions throughout the world, and is inspired by the multiple levels of exploration that tea invites her to: art, science, culinary, cultural, etc.
Brett Boynton joined Phoenix Tea in 2011, after many years working at The Tea Cup in the Queen Anne neigborhood of Seattle. He has been selling and serving fine tea in Seattle Washington since 2001, and is an active tea educator and the author of Black Dragon Tea Bar blog. His deep love of tea has brought him to Taiwan five times to study oolong production and Chinese tea culture. His hobbies include: gardening, studying Mandarin, and vegan cooking. Follow Brett on Twitter or email him.
